The road play a key role in our transportation infrastructure. On the one hand it manages already the biggest part of the commercial transport and on the other hand it becomes indispensable for the passenger traffic. Due to economic growth and increasing mobility the traffic volume will continue to grow in future. Therefore even minor disturbances cause considerable traffic delays.

The AMS software is used to check the condition of the bridge and the loads the bridge is subjected to.
Bridges are an important link in our infrastructure. Our road network is equipped comprehensively with bridges. They enable efficient connections and are consequently indispensable. If they exhibit substantial defects or rather if defects are found too late, the complete failure of a bridge could be the result. This in turn leads to massive economic loss and is also very likely responsible for substantially impairing the functionality of further important facilities of infrastructure and providing (domino effect). The conditions apply on bridges with increasing age.
As a result, AMS is working with the University Weimar under the direction of the engineering office Freundt on the project "Bridge Measurement Technology". The aim of this cooperation is to detect early what kind of loads the bridge is subjected to and how the condition of the bridge will change in future. Within the project, statistical data is simulated to determine how long a bridge is safe to drive. The main focus of the cooperation lies on a professional modular automated system for traffic monitoring, for indirect axle weighing of the axles of the heavy traffic and on the real time analysis of the data for the experimental sensibility evaluation of bridges. In addition, statements about the frequency level of certain roads can be made.
AMS is responsible for analysis and visualization of the measurement data. It applied jBEAM as control center for storage and analysis of different data.

In order to create an overall system for automated traffic data analysis, it is necessary to be able to define the bridge to be observed as a model. This includes:
- Graphic representation of the structure with position of the sensors
- Definition of logical measuring points (sensor network), which summarize individual sensors
- Definition of sensor attributes
- Definition of system parameters
The model description of the bridge is made via the jBEAM component Bridge Manager. To do this, first load a measurement file so that the channels can be assigned to the measuring points. Each measuring point can be parameterized individually so that the data pre-processing and the peak recognition can be made to the specifics of the measuring point. Within the bridge manager 'local' and 'global' measuring points are defined. The categorization reflects the different use of the measurement data for the vehicle determination.
